CCW Commentary: Call for Expressions of Interest

The Convention on Certain Conventional Weapons (CCW) forms an important part of the normative framework for controlling weapons used in armed conflict. But guidance on the interpretation and application of the Convention and its Protocols remains sparse. A comprehensive article-by-article commentary would fill a significant gap in the literature, and serve as reference work for scholars and practitioners alike.

Do you have expertise relevant to the CCW? Would you like to contribute to the commentary?

If so, please make yourself known by sending an email to gro.slipaobfsctd-78508f@ofni by 31 October 2025. In the email, please indicate clearly which article(s) of the Convention and/or the Protocols you would most like to write about. Please include or attach a biographical note that outlines your expertise, especially in relation to the CCW and/or other conventional arms control treaties, and a list of your relevant publications.

Please note that the commentary will be produced as a scholarly work, and not as a paid consultancy. Oxford University Press has expressed interest in the commentary and will consider a full proposal once our contributor list is complete.

The commentary will be edited by Dr Rain Liivoja, Dr Lauren Sanders and Penny Saultry.
